The 2009 Inauguration Gala “Celebrating a Journey” is inauguration week’s most renowned and anticipated event. This pinnacle Black Tie Affair will galvanize some of America’s most prominent individuals across an array of industries including media, film, music, government and business, in celebration of the “journey” that many of us have had to make to get where we are today, while concurrently celebrating and commemorating the historical induction President-Elect Barack Obama, and Vice-President Elect Joe Biden. The “Celebrating a Journey” Inauguration Gala will be held on January 19th, 2009 in the prestigious Galleria at Lafayette Center located at 1155 21st Street NW, Washington DC, 20036. The Gala’s "Mistress of Ceremony" will be the well respected actress, director and producer, Mrs. Mary Major.
The Gala begins at 8:00 p.m.; the VIP Reception and Live Performance portion is from 8:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
DJ Jealousy will provide the events entertainment from 10:00 p.m. until 1:00 a.m. early arrival is suggested.
Special Note to our Patrons: This event is outside of the restricted area of the city and it is therefore safe to drive to this event. We are not affected by the street closures and have parking available for attendees.

The “Celebrating a Journey” inauguration gala also ‘celebrates’ the ‘journey’ our troops continuously make – from the comfort of their homes to foreign battle fields – and the day to day struggle for survival many of them faced over the past several years, and continue to face while in Iraq and Afghanistan. In light of this, and the fact that it’s an overall patriotic period for our country, we are donating a portion of the proceeds from this event to support the United Service Organizations (USO) "Care Package" initiative. The USO is a private, nonprofit organization whose mission is to support the troops by providing morale, welfare and recreational services to our men and women in uniform. The Operation USO Care Package program enables the public to directly support our men and women in uniform, and is the only organization authorized by the White House and the Department of Defense to provide troops with care packages.

We are currently seeking and solidifying sponsorship with the following organizations:

- First Fridays of Houston
- SHANE&SHAWN, Inc.
- Soblu Inc – a DC based film production and entertainment company
- The Fonvielle Group
We have a number of special guests supporting the event including renowned British television, theatre, and film actor – Idris Elba, executive director of the USO care package program - Ron Wise, and Shane and Shawn Ward of Shane&Shawn, Inc. just to name a few.
